Today we had the honor of escorting Emily, Erin, Jen and Bruce Egan home from A.I. duPont hospital. Emily’s father, Bruce, is our EMS Manager and Assistant Chief for Crozer-Keystone Health System EMS. Her mother Jen works for our brothers and sisters in blue Aston Township Police Department.
Their daughter Emily was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called Aplastic Anemia, which prevented her bone marrow from working efficiently and effectively. The only cure for this disease was for her to have a bone marrow transplant. After three months of multiple medical procedures and a week of chemotherapy treatments, she had her bone marrow transplant on October 11th, 2018. Emily found a donor which was a 100% match within her younger sister, Erin.
Emily has been in DuPont since July 21st and is exhilarated to be home. We would like to thank Pennsylvania State Police Trooper King, Crozer EMS , New Castle County Police K-9 Unit, Upper Chichester Police and Chester Township Police for assisting us during the escort home. We especially want to thank our partners ATPD and Chief Ruggeri for coordinating everything.
Welcome home Egan family.
