Today the members are finishing their rope rescue technician and are on the Chester Creek Trail performing the final set of skills they have learned from START Training. This is only training there is not an actual emergency, if we see you on the trail thank you for your patience.

Around 8pm last night the department was added on the working fire dispatch to assist Garden City Fire Company #1 on a residential house fire. The Truck and Engine made the response. Crews opened the roof and assisted with overhaul before being released by command.

Just before 5pm this afternoon the ATFD was dispatched to assist Marcus Hook Trainer Fire Department with the swift water team. Deputy, Squad, and utility 17 w/ 7 responded to the area of Ridge rd and Main St for 1 victim stranded on a rock in the middle of the creek. The team arrived and performed a shallow water crossing removing the victim from the creek within minutes of arrival. The victim was evaluated by EMS and released with no injuries.

Today the officers and members remember the line of duty death of Chief Raymond “Rocky” Eusden (Legacy 72) on May 20, 2008. Chief Eusden was assisting with apparatus and equipment maintenance duties in the fire station when he suffered a medical emergency and was quickly treated and transported to a local hospital. Chief Eusden died the next day on May 20, 2008. We also remember Assistant Fire Marshal James Voss (Legacy Green Ridge) lost the same day non-LODD.

Yesterday the ATFD stayed busy handling 10 emergencies between 2am and 9pm. Around 1pm the Truck w/6 responded on dispatch for a special call to a reported commercial fire for Brookhaven Fire Co. Station 52 Delco, Pa. The Truck had the Charlie side and checked HVAC units on the roof before clearing. An hour later the Truck and Engine w/9 responded to a residential house fire to Lower Chichester Volunteer Fire Company. Crews threw ladders, conducted searches, and assisted with ventilation on what was determined to be a small kitchen fire. Just after 6pm the 2nd alarm assignment was struck to assist City of Chester Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 1400 in the 300blk of West 9th street. The Squad w/5 responded as the RIT An hour later while units were still on the fire on west 9th, another fire was dispatched in Chester City to the 600blk of Avenue of the states. This fire also reached a second alarm with first arriving units find heavy fire through the roof in a 1sty commercial. The Truck, Squad, Engine and utility w/17 members responded and was in service for about 2 hours before returning. Additionally the department handled 3 fire alarms and 2 gas leaks inside throughout the day. Thanks to Newtown square Ladder 41 for covering our local while we were commited to the incidents in Chester.
