Yesterday the ATFD stayed busy handling 10 emergencies between 2am and 9pm. Around 1pm the Truck w/6 responded on dispatch for a special call to a reported commercial fire for Brookhaven Fire Co. Station 52 Delco, Pa. The Truck had the Charlie side and checked HVAC units on the roof before clearing. An hour later the Truck and Engine w/9 responded to a residential house fire to Lower Chichester Volunteer Fire Company. Crews threw ladders, conducted searches, and assisted with ventilation on what was determined to be a small kitchen fire. Just after 6pm the 2nd alarm assignment was struck to assist City of Chester Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 1400 in the 300blk of West 9th street. The Squad w/5 responded as the RIT An hour later while units were still on the fire on west 9th, another fire was dispatched in Chester City to the 600blk of Avenue of the states. This fire also reached a second alarm with first arriving units find heavy fire through the roof in a 1sty commercial. The Truck, Squad, Engine and utility w/17 members responded and was in service for about 2 hours before returning. Additionally the department handled 3 fire alarms and 2 gas leaks inside throughout the day.
